Metropolitan Funeral Service can provide a variety of services including removal and embalming accommodations to funeral homes, cremation services, receiving of remains for local interments, and shipping services throughout the United States as well as Internationally. All shipping of remains will originate from a major airport or hub, such as our local Reagan National Airport (DCI), Dulles International Airport (IAD) or Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI).

For Shipping Remains throughout the United States
Our staff will prepare the remains to meet your client family’s cultural requests if needed, as well as the specifications of U.S. commercial airlines; and all permits and documentation will be prepared and filed on your behalf. You will receive confirmation of the airline schedule and costs to make arrangements for receiving your client family’s loved one.

For International Shipping of Remains
In addition to proper preparation and packaging of the remains per each country’s specifications, our couriers and staff are familiar with embassy procedures, and processing of all necessary documentation for shipping remains to other countries. Our familiarity with the local embassies and their hours of operation make us successful in completing the requirements necessary for your client family to take their loved one home in a timely manner once all information has been provided to us.
